Booze Hounds Bluegrass originated with Eric Lee Reel and Louie “The Rooster” Morris in 2017. The band played as a duo for various events until 2021. A hop, skip, and a flatland frolic later, Alec Bohuk joined on mandolin for a year until Louie left the band to pursue his career. Alec then brought along his talented partner, Taylor Williams and the three played as a power trio for a year. Taylor brought church choir harmonies and a musical theater molded female-vocal range. The only thing we were missing was Joeseph Fawcett sawin` the most beautiful melodies on his fiddle. He brought the extra strings BHB needed to round out their sound. In 2025, Lucas Williams has been playing with us here and there as he brings a glorious second acoustic guitar and the finest vocals so Eric can bring out his banjo for a classic 5-piece bluegrass band. We play traditional tunes everybody knows and original music like “Ernie’s Homemade Wine”, “Railroad Bound”, “Naked Neighbor”, etc. We love playing together and that is evident as heck when you see us on any stage!

HONORARY HOUNDS

lUCAS wILLIAMS

Our good friend Lucas Williams is a phenomenal six string flat picker and a fantastic vocalist. He is also “kind of a big deal” on that standup bass. He hosts open bluegrass jams at The Mousetrap, Duke’s Indy, and Chilly Water Brewing in Indianapolis. We have played some great shows alongside this kind hound, and you will see him on stage with us many more times very soon.

JON BLACK

Jon Black and Eric Lee go way back and have been friends for many years. On the five-string banjo (and sometimes Dobro), this hound has been pickin` with Booze Hounds Bluegrass for years. We love playing music with Jon and you will see him up on stage with us again, don’t you worry.

Forrest Freeman

Robbie Forrest, Forrest Robbie, Sherwood, or Rob Dylan. This hound comes with many names and can play a hundred songs. He is a close friend to the band and has played tons of sets with us, opened for us several times, and even lent a hand in helping us write parts to our original music. He will be playing with us again in the future, guaranteed.

JOE LAND

Joe Land has been an amazing and trusted friend to us, and we love pickin’ together. He is an absolute bad-to-the-bone mandolin picker. Bad-to-the-bone! We can’t even tell you how many shows/jams this hound has sat in with us on, quite a few. But make no mistake we will be picking together again in no time. Just you wait and see!

LOUIE “THE ROOSTER” MORRIS

Louie is a founding member of Booze Hounds Bluegrass and played banjo in the band until 2021 when he pursued his career in law enforcement. The Rooster keeps folks in Hamilton County safe as can be!

PAUL Strodel

Paul sat in with Eric and Louie quite a few times in the early Booze Hounds days. You would have found him choppin’ on a mandolin!

Derek Carerra

Derek is a master of the 5-string banjo, a young prodigy some may say. He currently plays with Mountain Laurel and his own band Last Minute in and around the bluegrass scene here in Hoosier Land. Go check em’ out!

Jim Farley

Jim is the original bass player for BHB and helped mold Eric into the musician he is today. We love ole Jim and wish him the best always!
